The Studio Gallery is pleased excited to include new work by Ann Richardson in our catalogue.
When we first saw her work we immediately loved it's drama and wit. This year's choice of figures again reflect Ann's passion for the natural world - she has a rare ability to take the essence of an animal subject, and then build a sculpture with an identity and strength which are all her own.
Hares and frogs are a particular passion for Ann and this year she has a new series of figures, including smaller pieces designed for indoors. While her figures, (and sometimes their titles!) contain humour, the quality and integrity of the finished sculpture is quite wonderful. The unexpected combination of figures, such as the hare and the frog in "a frog he would a wooing go" adds a special ingredient to her work.
Ann's work is cast in bronze resin and hand-finished in her studio, usually cast in limited editions of 25.
